Ahmed Bin Sulayem

Ahmed Bin Sulayem is the Executive Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, a strategic initiative of the Government of Dubai to create a dynamic commodities market place in the region. As Executive Chairman, Mr. Bin Sulayem drives DMCC towards the realisation of its strategic vision and is responsible for leading the organisation’s strategies.

Mr. Bin Sulayem joined the DMCC as Chief Operating Officer when it was first established in 2002, to take on the responsibility of the organisation’s operations. He has spearheaded the success of the Centre in Dubai’s commodity market, in addition to guiding the set up of its property sector.Mr. Bin Sulayem is also the Chairman of the Dubai Gold and Commodities Exchange (DGCX), a DMCC joint venture initiative to set up the first derivatives and commodities exchange in the region, with electronic trading accessible from anywhere in the world. In this capacity, he adds further momentum to the growth plans of DGCX, while consolidating the remarkable progress that the exchange has witnessed since its inception.

In addition, Mr. Bin Sulayem is closely involved with the various initiatives of DMCC including the Dubai Tea Trading Centre and the Dubai Pearl Exchange. He also brings in valuable experience to the Board and management team of the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), where he holds the position of the Deputy Chairman.

Prior to joining DMCC, Mr. Bin Sulayem was a Director in ASTECO, where he was responsible for liaising with various government departments of the Emirate’s administrative bodies. He was also a key member of the core management team with wide responsibilities for making strategic decisions affecting the Company.

Mr. Bin Sulayem holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration from California State University in San Bernardino.
